CHICAGO- As storms have surged through the Chicago area , delivering excessive winds, hail, and rain harm causing hundreds of local owners, purchasers need short-term help making upkeep.
The Better Business Bureau is warning customers to be aware of domestic repair scams.
The BBB recommends the use of a warning when hiring a home development contractor.
Scams abound, particularly following a primary hurricane, flood, or other climate disaster, while many homeowners are looking to restore their homes.
But contractor scams can happen any time, so be wary of “hurricane chasers” who go door-to-door trying to rip off house owners. They use high-stress sales approaches, regularly call for in advance prices, and are frequently fly-by-night groups. These con artists will take owners’ money and deliver shoddy work or no paintings at all.
Consumers want to work out important warnings while hiring contractors for any type of home restoration. Each year, the BBB releases an annual Scamtracker Risk Report listing the riskiest scams,, and Home Improvement Scams are continually in the top five, hitting consumers difficult with an average loss of over $1,000,” said CEO Steve Bernas, Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois president
