Developer in cop internet for forging land documents, arrested from Ahmedabad airport at the same time as looking to flee to London

The Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested real property developer and former movie producer Yusuf Lakdawala from Ahmedabad airport for allegedly trying to usurp four acres of land in Khandala, worth Rs 50 crore, by submitting forged files to the registrar’s woffice Lakdawala, along with his accomplice Mohan R Nayar, is also accused of destroying an official report from the Mumbai registrar’s office.
According to the police, a worker at Maval sub-registrar’s office has lodged a cheating and forgery complaint in opposition to Lakdawala and Nair for allegedly conspiring to usurp 4 acres 38 gunthas of land, marked in legit data as survey range 104 (CTS no. Eleven, 11A, 11B) in Khandala. The police said the accused had received an ‘affidavit-cum-deed of affirmation’ for the land based on a few documents dating back to 1949, which are fake.
It has been alleged that the accused used a random registration number of a report, which is recorded with the Mumbai registrar’s office, to make their crime seem foolproof. He additionally alleged that the accused destroyed some pages of the different report.
“Lakdawala had picked up a random variety of an ‘affidavit cum deed of confirmation.’ Somehow, they destroyed the authentic documents from the office of the Registrar, after which they claimed that the random number is of the land in Khandala and that there has been an ‘affidavitcum-deed of affirmation’ between Lakdawala and one more birthday celebration. They additionally made adjustments within the record to make it appear real and destroyed a few pages,” a police officer explained.

“We had registered a case, and our probe began when we received data that Lakdawala is making plans to escape from Ahmedabad to London. We sent a group, and he was picked up from the airport on Friday. He is being delivered to the town,” he said.
The police have booked the accused under applicable sections of the Indian Penal Code and section 82 of the Indian Registration Act (making false statements, turning in fake copies).
